days of…Β

Days of wine and focus

of hanging on

of staying strong

of keeping faith

of sitting still

of being silent

of thinking in beautiful

of standing in my own shoes

of letting go

of loving you through the distance

of letting you lead

of feeling the passion

of attempting not to burn up

of recognizing the spectacular

of allowing the mystery

of hearing the call

of accepting what is

of not crossing borders or boundaries

of opening and opening

of trusting the journey

of seeing the face of God

of surrender into something bigger than I can know

of making the daily commitment

of acknowledging the grace

of thanking for everything

of looking for the miracles

of talking to trees

of taking time to prepare

of expressing my love

of helping in time of need

of following my own path

of obedience rather than selfishness

of love and love and love

of all things love

just a thought

 Strange to realize
on our very worst day of life

someone else is having their very best day

Every death

is countered with birth,

Every grieving tear

with belly laughter

On the night we see the stars fall

the sun is rising on the other side of the world.

The human spirit cannot be conquered

we rise again,

and again, each time we fall

Tides come in

tides go out, over and over

With every broken heart

there is an answering new moment of love

For every first kiss

a final slamming of the door –

figuratively and/or literally

For every threshold we cross

we must cross another in a new moment

there are always new crossings

We each have moments of glory

moments of defeat

Worry is always a paper tiger

stripping our moments of joy

Illusions of control hide behind our eyes

always revealed to be a waste of our precious resources

our time here is too valuable to waste on such things

There is a time for every season

In all, we are to bring praise,

as sacrifice – as gift –

this simple act

the amazing hat-trick to the healing of our wounds

when, in every single circumstance,

we stand in the,

sometimes difficult,

sometimes brilliant,

beauty, kindness and truth of that very moment

and give thanks.

nothing is worth more than this day! Β Β

Your life isn’t behind you; your memories are behind you. Your life is ALWAYS ahead of you. Today is a new day. Seize it!       – Steve Maraboli

We must hold each other with tender care, so as not to bend a soul away from its truth. Β Β  Β  – from The Endless Practice Β

 Over and over we break

open, we break and

we break and we open.

For a while, we try to fix

the vesselβ€”as if

to be broken is bad.

As if with glue and tape

and a steady hand we

might bring things to perfect

again. As if they were ever

perfect. As if to be broken is not

also perfect. As if to be open

is not the path toward joy.
The vase that’s been shattered

and cracked will never

hold water. Eventually

it will leak. And at some

point, perhaps, we decide

that we’re done with picking

our flowers anyway, and no

longer need a place to contain them

We watch them grow just

as wildflowers doβ€”unfenced,

unmanaged, blossoming only

when they’re readyβ€”and mygod,

how beautiful they are amidst

the mounting pile of shards.

leaking loveΒ

Sometimes you just need someone to storm heaven for you

Sometimes you just need someone to hoarse whisper it for you β€”

β€œFather of the Tired & Broken-Hearted…

oh, hear our prayer….

Give Your Child the wisdom to know it this week:

Hiding when you’re hurting won’t heal you and growing isolated can just let infection grow.

Give Your Child the love to live it:

The secret way to heal a broken heart is to let love leak out like an ocean through all the cracks.

When you’re most wounded by words, run to the only Word that always brings healing.

And may all the trials be but a trail,

all the stones on the way be but grace stairs to God.

In the name of Jesus β€”

who broke His heart to heal ours…”

on growing strong bonesΒ

backbones get built

vertebrae by vertebrae

with every victory

with every heartache

with every triumph

with every shattering

with each awakening
they become sturdy

bearing the weight of new consciousness

embodying self-love

strengthened, emboldened
yet still flexible, yet still able

to make flowing and fluid movement

undulating with pulsing life

able to stand firm in the face of a challenge or adversity
backbones don’t magically appear because we wish them into being
backbones need nurturing and kindness and discipline and conviction and intention

and desire

to form and develop
they help us be stalwart and valiant

protecting the soft, vulnerable, tender inner parts of our being
robust, hearty boundaries that

don’t cut us off from nourishment β€” they make sure we’re getting the right kind
the fortitude to love, not blindly, but with courage.

Never quit. Never. Rest when you need to, then get back up. Strength comes as you walk. Backbones come one good choice at a time.

What haunts us are not the dead, but the gaps left within us by the secrets of others.Β Β  Β – Maria Torok & Nicholas AbrahamΒ

sometimes.
I don’t know what to say.
sometimes.
The very words catch behind
safe guards of emotion.
sometimes.
Speech refuses to commence.
sometimes.
Words pool behind the locked door. Waiting.
sometimes.
I lay and pray the words you don’t want to hear will dissolve inside me.
sometimes.
Silence fills the outside air.
sometimes.
Inside air is thick and muggy,
like the rain forest
or Savannah in August.
sometimes.
I go to sleep with heavy lungs,
weight of the unspoken hanging like the world between us.
sometimes.
