good thoughts from a fellow Kentuckian!

Manifesto: The Mad Farmer Liberation Front

Love the quick profit, the annual raise,
vacation with pay. Want more
of everything ready-made. Be afraid
to know your neighbors and to die.

And you will have a window in your head.
Not even your future will be a mystery
any more. Your mind will be punched in a card
and shut away in a little drawer.

When they want you to buy something
they will call you. When they want you
to die for profit they will let you know.
So, friends, every day do something
that won’t compute. Love the Lord.
Love the world. Work for nothing.
Take all that you have and be poor.
Love someone who does not deserve it.

Denounce the government and embrace
the flag. Hope to live in that free
republic for which it stands.
Give your approval to all you cannot
understand. Praise ignorance, for what man
has not encountered he has not destroyed.

Ask the questions that have no answers.
Invest in the millenium. Plant sequoias.
Say that your main crop is the forest
that you did not plant,
that you will not live to harvest.

Say that the leaves are harvested
when they have rotted into the mold.
Call that profit. Prophesy such returns.
Put your faith in the two inches of humus
that will build under the trees
every thousand years.

Listen to carrion — put your ear
close, and hear the faint chattering
of the songs that are to come.
Expect the end of the world. Laugh.
Laughter is immeasurable. Be joyful
though you have considered all the facts.
So long as women do not go cheap
for power, please women more than men.

Ask yourself: Will this satisfy
a woman satisfied to bear a child?
Will this disturb the sleep
of a woman near to giving birth?

Go with your love to the fields.
Lie down in the shade. Rest your head
in her lap. Swear allegiance
to what is nighest your thoughts.

As soon as the generals and the politicos
can predict the motions of your mind,
lose it. Leave it as a sign
to mark the false trail, the way
you didn’t go.

Be like the fox
who makes more tracks than necessary,
some in the wrong direction.
Practice resurrection.

Wendell Berry

why God became man? to KNOW us

‘Sit down. Sit down,’ I say. For no one

has shifted personal stance enough for long

to sit where I sit and dangle

ten toes in my shoes and wonder what arrows

are hidden beneath my flesh, ‘sit down. Sit down.

And do not tell me, but listen. Listen

Even when I am silent. Listen even

When I am speaking in tongues not of humans

Or of angels but of the shadowy

Devils that drug and depress me and drag

Me down to my dark and original sense.’

these are the words I have prayed to receive

Complete
Krista Rose Strode
Complete.
Could I ever have believed those words
Before we had met?
Would I have believed in you before we touched?
I love you.
Such simple words
To hold all of my being,
To be all that I am.
You love me.
Words that come so easily to you
That can shatter the sun
And drown all the stars.
Desire.
Such a shallow feeling
Until your touch
Alighted my entire soul.
Perfection.
Something I never wanted
Until I realized in our imperfection
Our togetherness was my ideal.
Forever.
A concept I never believed
Until all of eternity was revealed
Lying, waiting in your eyes.
But why?
The gods may never tell me
Why I’m now free to be happy,
But I rejoice in you.
You love me.
Heaven could be no better place than this.
I love you.
My soul is infinite and complete.
I love you honey, may your marriage, and life be blessed always! Mom

Every great work, every big accomplishment, has been brought into manifestation through holding to the vision, and often just before the big achievement, comes apparent failure and discouragement. – Florence Scovel Shinn

Nothing stops the man who desires to achieve. Every obstacle is simply a course to develop his achievement muscle. It’s a strengthening of his powers of accomplishment.

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time

who you are matters

20120902-083713.jpg

Give our leader your justice, O God,

and your righteousness to those in power.

May they judge your people with righteousness,

and your poor with justice.

May the mountains yield prosperity for the people,

and the hills, in righteousness.

May they defend the cause of the poor of the people,

give deliverance to the needy, and crush the oppressor.

Psalm 72.1-4

God of eternal justice and mighty grace,

may your gentle healing and fierce compassion

overthrow those in power, and fill them with your love.

May your care for your littlest ones

invade our desires, sweep up our leaders,

overtake all greed, and transform the power in our hands.

May justice be our passion and love our courage.

May our leaders guide us in generosity

with gentleness, humility and truth.

By the self-giving of your grace,

may we overthrow all greed and oppression,

that none, in using power, may cause another’s suffering.

We give ourselves to the healing of the earth,

that we may be tender with even the mountains and hills.

God of mercy, may justice prevail:

not that we decide one another’s deserving,

but that we defend one another’s needs,

that all may have life, and have it abundantly,

in the spirit of your almighty tenderness and grace.

Amen.

All the Hemispheres

 Hafez

by Paulo Coelho on August 26, 2010

Leave the familiar for a while. Let your senses and bodies stretch outLike a welcomed season Onto the meadows and shores and hills.

Open up to the Roof. Make a new water-mark on your excitement And love.

Like a blooming night flower, Bestow your vital fragrance of happiness And giving Upon our intimate assembly.

Change rooms in your mind for a day.

All the hemispheres in existence Lie beside an equator In your heart.

Greet Yourself In your thousand other forms As you mount the hidden tide and travel Back home.

All the hemispheres in heaven Are sitting around a fire Chatting

While stitching themselves together Into the Great Circle inside of You.

Creator of the Universe,

Loving Mystery, Womb of Silence,
you have brought me out of the narrows

into a broad and spacious place.
I will not return to confinement,

but remain here in your generous freedom.
I guard the silence at the center;

I hold the moment empty and open.
I breathe in,

and make sanctuary in my body for you.
I make room in my thoughts

for you to enter and be at peace.
I offer openings in my day,

where you may rest.
I create space in my living

for you alone.
I enter the holy of holies

where you make of this moment
the void of Creation,

the gift of Sabbath.

Amen.

how much do we really have?

Some people say, ‘the glass is half full’. Others say, ‘the glass is half empty’. Still others say ‘the glass is always full’.

Abundance or scarcity – which do you live in? What do you choose to see?

Yesterday I had a moment when I didn’t think I had enough for myself and as tears came streaming down my face, I realized a woman next to me try to pay for a paper was counting her pennies. I debated on giving about a second – I didn’t have very much to give. Then as I put the dollar down on the counter for her paper, she turned to me and said, ‘Thank you so much, I am down to my last bit of change.’ I was so caught in my own personal distress of that moment and I was already on my way to the bathroom to compose myself. As I stood in the bathroom, I realized what she had said and the fact that she had nothing and I had 26 dollars! I could share. I was abundant!!! Why did I doubt? I have seen it over and over – there is always plenty enough to share.
I quickly went to find her, but she was nowhere to be found.
I have been thinking of it ever since.

Down To Earth

Took a leap of faith

Thought I’d learn how to fly

Lookin’ for rainbows

And dreams passing by

Searching for answers

To a whole bunch of lies

Tryin’ to be anybody but me

As I crashed to the ground

Here’s truth that I found:

Learned I must bend

So I won’t break

How to get real

Not be a fake

Chose to smile through the pain

And never to hate

Now I’m flying so high

While I’m walking around

Cause the sky doesn’t end

Till it touches the ground

Living each day now

One step a day

It’s so good to be

Where I want to stay

Just you and me

Found a few answers

Stopped asking why

Now it’s time to be free

And I’m flying so high

Right here on the ground

Cause I’m walkin’ on sunshine

Hooked on the feeling

On top of the world

I’m one happy girl

Learned to find rainbows

Right in the rain

Found out I had more

The more that I gave

Chose to be happy

Not to complain

Living with passion

I know what it’s worth

Cause life doesn’t start

Till you get down to earth
