reflections on a day

We swim in abundance
This day is living
flowing with
intimacy
and abundance

As I reflect on this day
I am full
I went with $8
I gave $5
I was given $40
I shared $20
I left with riches
beyond description and measure
I am stronger because of you
I will never put gas in my tank again
without praying for that circle
of beautiful women
starting with Barbara’s entering, speaking, blessing,
passing hand to hand
that green gift for me
for the same abundance
to rain on them
every day
showers of blessings
running down into
their shoes in sloshy goodness
I have found it true that
there is always enough to share
giving and receiving
are the same act of healing

There is much music
In my fullness
There are symphonies
Playing in my soul
I thank each of you for
your life giving songs
my friends
my sisters

the importance of relationships

Why Epiphanies Don’t Work | by Jacob Sokol
With no shortage of wisdom, biz-strategies, and life-advice, why aren’t we all already living the lives of our dreams?
Does the problem lie in our inability to find the right balance between *knowledge* acquisition and actual *implementation*?
Epiphanies can be life-altering, but in reality, most are short-lived and fade away within days or weeks.
So, how can we effectively translate epiphanies into lasting change?
In one of my all-time favorite interviews, that’s the exact question I asked moral psychologist Jonathan Haidt for our upcoming WTF Should I Do w/ My Life?! virtual conference.

What Jonathan shared was shocking…
Epiphanies are thrilling but they’re cheap. They fade away. And then months later, nothing ever happens.
Here’s a HUGE insight: Unless you change your *environment* or your *relationships*, change will not last.
This is why community is SO important. In order to utilize the information you’re learning, you need to make changes in your life that will allow you to sustain whatever insights you have. If you want to change yourself, change your peer group.
So, how can you stop hanging out with the knuckleheads and start hanging out with people you admire?

here to help each other

Why doesn’t anyone tell you? That whenever you want to stick your head in the sand — is when you need to stick your hand out for help.

That fear only happens when you try to go alone. It’s why all the angels always come with light and say do not be afraid. It’s why He says I am always with you and I won’t ever forsake.

Burden is only a weight when borne alone. When the burden is borne together, by a Body, the burden becomes bond — soul strengthener.

dreaming of you

I gaze at the stars.
spring night air, and strange new sounds,
seep soft through open windows,
first night open for two seasons.
crickets and coyotes mix with dogs and cars
the occasional child crying,
bed time,
then the soothing sound of its mothers voice.
I lay on a hard mattress,
my neck hurts,
my head aches,
I wonder it’s not worse
with the stress of my wallet echo.
I have certainly gotten resilient
over these years.
I drift, soft with the night.
I think about the wonder
of this life I am living,
how much I have learned,
and how that is only
the surface.
the stars are fading,
the big dipper going to sleep.
my eyelids are getting heavy
time to find the dream answers
waiting on the other side
of my living
where anything can happen,
and it’s all really about me.

blessings of friendship

a blessing for u this night: Let nothing disturb thee, nothing affright thee; God never changeth! Patient endurance attaineth to all things; who God possesseth in nothing is wanting; alone God sufficeth.” I love u and God loves u most. ox.

I am so very, very blessed to have amazing God-given friends! They give me strength. So grateful ❤

The Celtic understanding of friendship finds its inspiration in the sublime notion of the anam cara. Anam is the Gaelic word for soul; cara is the word for friend. This friendship is an act of recognition and belonging. When you have an anam cara, your friendship cuts across all convention and category. You are joined in an ancient and eternal way with the friend of your soul.
