dark matter sutra

.

last nite in the dark sky

a fox was calling

this eerie voice scathing scratching the air

scaring every living thing around

straight out of a horror movie or worst

some scary witch after me

for all my past sins and debauchery

I was ready to lock the doors

grab a pitch fork

throw the covers over my head

.

who knows really what a fox really is

maybe a prisoner in a fur body

trying to get out

some convict from a strange distant galaxy

“ .. and for your crimes against humanity

we shall set you on another world

known as earth

in strange body

with strange bedfellows

 whizzing bullets

and hungry wolves”

.

no matter what religion or science says

you never really know

who or what is in these other bodies

each of us stardust

catapulted from the infinite womb

dark matter given form

like blue hanuman

or immortal sunlight

.

I will call out to you from the wilderness

a purple cloud in a wide room

a child with a halo

a bed of moss

or some eagle soaring above the plane

in a total act of rebellion

from his dark matter sutra

.

NO PATH
‘There is No Path that Goes all the Way’

:-Han Shan
Not that it stops us looking

for the full continuation.
The one line in the poem

we can start and follow

straight to the end. The fixed belief

we can hold, facing a stranger
that saves us the trouble

of a real conversation.
But one day you are not

just imagining an empty chair
where your loved one sat.

You are not just telling a story
where the bridge is down

and there’s nowhere to cross.
You are not just trying to pray

to a God you always imagined

would keep you safe.
No, you’ve come to a place

where nothing you’ve done

will impress and nothing you

can promise will avert
the silent confrontation,

the place where

your body already seems to know

the way, having kept
to the last, its own secret

reconnaissance.
But still,

there is no path

that goes all the way,
one conversation

leads to another,
one breath to the next

until
there’s no breath at all,

just

the inevitable

final release

of the burden.
And then,

wouldn’t your life

have to start

all over again

for you to know

even a little

of who you had been?

Excerpt from ‘NO PATH”

peace. love. seal the deal.   – Miles

White and black cannot be found

in the ruins and valleys of a human face.

You’re the dust in a wrinkled rainbow,

whorled pallet of earth tones,

ginger, sorrel, burnt sienna.
Who called you “white,”

that disdain for shadows,

color of the fear of falling

through the prism of contradictions?
You are not white, you are oak,

apple wood and dandelion.

Make wine of yourself.

Make a barrel of your bones.

Acquire the flavor of your ancestors.
Who called you “black,”

that abstraction of a laughing tear?

You are not black, you have sown

sunset in your cheek furrows.

You are banyan, and mahogany,

kola nut and olive, cocoa bean of grief,

kinnikinnik of the sacred pipe.

You are the night.
Voracious love has dipped us both

in honey, meshed our dreams

in darkest cilia, netted our souls

like mushrooms in sweet loam,

the wild manure of one dragon.
Through innumerable pungent roots

the same juice bears us upward

into starlight.

Who Told You? by Alfred K. LaMotte

my heart hurts today

for this pain.

I feel great sorrow,

shattering grief,

love cracks me open,

allows me to feel this

hurricane of rage,

this fraction of our creation –

soul division.
for what we,

as human-kind,

have chosen to accept

within the soil of our borders,

our birthright is so much more.

we are each beloved.

we are royal, each and every one.
sadness sits on me,

a heavy fog,

as I drive,

wait,

pay,

that smarmy man

with the weird goatee,

wearing the faded Jack Daniels t-shirt,

I try to love him –

I humbly admit my failure today,

I promise to keep trying,

it is my only hope to change this world.

I return to my place in this universe,

the one I belong to for this moment –

I walk a mile quickly

my angst

mixing with grief

tears won’t stop

I walk this beach,

so familiar,

yet always new.

I pick up rocks,

I move from rocks,

to sand,

to benches.

I stand while the gulls float,

so easy,

so secure,

so assured,

so secure,

so loved,

so free.

As I watch

peace fills me…
I let go…
always a brutal struggle for this stubborn girl,

(I prefer to name that quality ‘determined’)

always, always, worth it.
trusting life is a ruthless business.

I choose to live,

I choose to feel,

I choose to open,

I choose to pay attention,

I choose to connect,

I choose to participate,

I choose to love,

ruthlessly.

What about you?

God grant you the eyes of heaven

to see each person’s divine belovedness

                  and so find joy.
God grant you a listening heart

to hear the cries of the silenced,

                  and so gain wisdom.
God grant you humility

         that unburdened by yourself

                  you may be free.
God grant you courage

to enter the world’s dark wounds,

                  and so bring healing.
God grant you patience,

to know the strength of the long journey,

                  and so be given hope.
God grant you a heart of love,

         to be moved to action,

                  and so receive deep peace.
God grant you God’s own spirit

to share in the healing of the world,

and so know God’s deep delight.

stand up now

The World needs people…

Who cannot be bought;

Whose word is their bond;

Who put character above wealth;

Who possess opinions and a will;

Who are larger than their vocations;

Who do not hesitate to take chances;

Who do not loose their individuality in a crowd;

Who will be as honest in small things as in great things;

Who will make no compromise with wrong;

Whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires;

Who do not believe that shrewdness, cunning and hardheadedness are the best qualities for winning success;

Who are not ashamed or afraid to stand for the truth when it is unpopular;

Who can say “no” with emphasis, although the rest of the world says “yes”.

💪🏽

    – Ted w. Engstrom, from Motivation to last a lifetime

It doesn’t change when we stare at it from across the room. It doesn’t change when we sit in prayer and wish it away. It doesn’t change when we skirt the edges of the shadow. It doesn’t change when we pretend it’s all Go(o)d. It changes when we cross the sacred battleground willing to die to our truth. It changes when we look the lie in the eye until it has nowhere left to hide. It changes when we pick up the sword of truth and cut the falsity until it bleeds right through. The era of the sacred activist is upon us. Not the warrior run amok, but the benevolent warrior who fights for our right to the light. Some battles are worth fighting.

It’s not easy
to do the hard thing
to lose
to stand
to eat
to sleep
alone
to wait
to be patient
to be strong
to allow the pain
the grief
the tears of exhaustion
frustration
weariness
to press on
to refuse to settle
to believe in spite of loss
to keep the fire warm
to build wells
to send out love
to melt your defenses
to keep touching the lepers
to allow healing to come
to ruthlessly let go
to remain open
and ready
to keep saying yes

not easy,

well worth it

“Even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me” (Psalm 139:10).

You look for Me. But you don’t need to look far.
Oh, trust Me. Trust Me: when I say I am with you, nothing can separate you from my love. This is true.
Come deeper.
Drink of these roots that do more than sustain. Yes, they hold you up. Yes, they let you reach high, to a new place, with Me. Yes, they give you courage, knowing you are held, knowing you will not topple. The stream that nourishes you will never run dry.
You do not do the planting in the best soil. That is for Me to do. You do not decide the weather—whether the sun will shine or rain will fall. You do not know when storms will bend your branches, the wind whipping off your leaves. You do not know when a branch will need to be cut, a root adjusted, fertilizer poured in and mixed with rich soil.
I am the one who cares for you, my love. I am the one who bends low, my hand upon you, my breath the sweet aroma of your soul.
Come, child. I take your concerns. I’ve got you.
I’ve got you.
I see you and care for you. You are growing.
You are becoming more and more yourself.
Oh, how I love to tend to you and be with you! You are the one for whom I bend low and you see Me.
I am so close.

                         everything here

 seems to need us

                   -Rainer Maria Rilke

😶🙃🙂

I can hardly imagine it

as I walk to the lighthouse,

feeling the ancient

prayer of my arms swinging

in counterpoint to my feet.

Here I am, suspended

between the sidewalk and twilight,

the sky dimming so fast it seems alive.

What if you felt the invisible

tug between you and everything?

A boy on a bicycle rides by,

his white shirt open, flaring

behind him like wings.

It’s a hard time to be human.

 We know too much

and too little.

Does the breeze need us?

The cliffs?

The gulls?

If you’ve managed to do one good thing,

the ocean doesn’t care.

But when Newton’s apple fell toward the earth,

the earth, ever so slightly, fell

toward the apple.

The World Has Need of You by Ellen Bass

the beauty of comversations

so amazing

such glory in these connections

from all over the world –

we all have need of each other.

Front porches can be found anywhere.

We share lunch tables

and stories, oh so exciting.

The four friends head to the gate,

the two locals call a friendly greeting as they return to leave for home,

they remember my name –

it rings out in the busy airport!

Wave and smiling – I live here!

I sit and rejoice.

Write it. 🙂

   I am enriched

       by this going

           by this obedience

                  by this calling

I have received such confirmation of my work.

So energized,

             so blessed,

                      so excited,

                so ready.

I am smiling as the guy above my table says,

So we must be in the allergy section….

(we talk throat clearing and

the fact that I have eaten gluten,

 for a few)

Hi, I’m Gary…I’m Amy….

my next divine appointment

has just arrived…

we cross paths 2 or3 times,

then just sit

     talk,

           share,

                connect,

                  sleep

         (well, sorta…in a plane seat??????….winging to Phily)

we leave each other with a warm hug,

after an all night flight…

I am doing my work…

and it is good

Today I wish you grand adventures, shared laughter and please, for goodness sakes, park with WILD ABANDON!! ❤️ xo

say it…live it…be it muchly

that is all for today…

do the work

Each of us in our own work, our own play,

can transform the earth,

can ring a thousand stars

with any insignificant

anonymous sacrament

of the commonplace…

This little bowl of tea

could bring peace to

all my ancestors,

to a hundred unborn

generations, if I hold it

tenderly, like a planet

in the vast ancient space

of my palm, sip darkly

without naming the flavor,

and taste nothing with my

mind but This…

then give thanks

with a breath of silence in

no hurry to go.

Your faith is not your steadfast belief,

not certainty beyond questions.

Your faith is not what you think of God

or God’s anointed, for you yourself

have done some powerful anointing.

Your faith is giving your gifts,

without questioning how valued they are,

without questioning how worthy you are,

but simply offering what is in you.
What saves you is knowing you are received

without price, without judgment.

The Savior’s love is indeed powerful,

but how precious

is what you have done for the Beloved.
God’s giving and receiving

are married in you.
All that is broken is forgiven,

all that is wounded is healed,

all that is offered is cherished.
All that is broken is forgiven,

all that is wounded is healed,

all that is offered is cherished.

we do not need to stay broken
healing is our natural state of being
once we are whole again
we must be aware of the release of our pain
and open ourselves to move
to the next natural state of living
we leave the brokenness behind
and dance in the light again
stronger than before
spreading our wings to fly
higher than we ever dared before!

gifts appear

I give you an emptiness,

I give you a plenitude,

unwrap them carefully.

— one’s as fragile as the other —

and when you thank me

I’ll pretend not to notice the doubt in your voice

When you say they’re just what you wanted.
Put them on the table by your bed.

When you wake in the morning

they’ll have gone through the door of sleep

Into your head. Wherever you go

they’ll go with you and

wherever you are they’ll wonder,

smiling about the fullness

you can’t add to

and the emptiness

that you can’t fill.
When you feel nothingness

and emptiness gnawing at your life,

there is no need for despair.

This is a call from your soul,

awakening your life to new possibilities.

Nothingness is the sister of possibility.

 backbonez kinda people

You are not a coward. You have walked into the countless firestorms of life that would make the knees of a champion shudder at the very sight. You raised a child and held the hand of a dying loved one. You pulled from every inner resource to keep an entire family functioning and fed. You are not a coward. You once hit the bottom of a dark pit only to climb out to greet the next light of transition. You didn’t need nerves of steel or pray for superhuman strength, but relied on a determined heart of love to live your life for something big.

~Susan Frybort, author of ‘Hope is a Traveler’

The Truth
I believe people can change

because of the changes in me
but…

they have to see the need

and want to change themselves
not everyone will change

just because I love them,

or they love me –

just because I want them to –

in fact, most of them won’t
My part in life, is to be myself,

realize my value,

live what I believe

and not allow someone else

to change me into who I am not,

or take away my value
To be in a relationship with someone

is to trust all that you are to another person

and to trust someone enough to allow them into yourself
If that other person has values,

or behaviors,

that are damaging them,

they will damage me.

they will bring harm to who I am.

What and who I become in the relationship

will necessarily reflect what and who they are

how we speak to, and treat each other,

will make a major difference in the quality of our lives.

This is the truth

all things new

God is not doing an old thing. God is not doing the next thing. God is doing a new thing and new things don’t fit in old vessels. As I was praying I believe the Lord is saying that He is making old vessels new again. Shedding off the old and making it new. This may mean old ways of thinking, repetitive ways that don’t work anymore or don’t yield results as they used to. Old bodies that don’t function the way they used to. Feeling any younger yet? Old and achy bodies will be regenerated into young, flexible and new bodies for the new thing to be placed into. New wine doesn’t go into old wine skins. God needs us 50ish people (give or take a few years) to impart into the younger generations and we need to be as active as they are.

I meet you in the dark

with my secret information,

my furtive questions.

I bring my grainy picture.

You bring me out into light

and give me yours, so much better,

for you too have been observing

even more keenly

and loving even more deeply.

God I come over and over

to give you

my view of myself

and walk away with yours.
