Walking among trees being stripped,136040026385c5a03b2b2e432c34f77e
the graveyard of colors at my feet,

branches above slowly being robbed,
air chilling, reaching farther into me,

I can’t shake the gentle dread
that something more will be required,

something taken, or outgrown,
requiring a reckoning of grief,

no loss God wants to save me from,
no turning that I want to miss,

a coming free that will not feel like such,
a birth resembling autumn’s lovely death.

I know no other passage through these woods.
0ece9c124b074afeb94168e1d0a3bae2The small path reaches out to me.

I feel my breathing, steady, slow and small.
The forest turns around me as I go.

Mist rises from the farm field to the west,
that slowly fills with yellow morning light.

climb

9b42f42be41a1ff8ed7031f16a04420b

We climb mountains.
We get back up when we fall.
We keep fighting for our dreams.
We refuse to die, while there is breath within our bones.
We stare our suffering in the eye,
and walk straight through the dark forest with courage,
trusting our steps will not fall.
We will not fail.
We are warriors.
We are aware of the value of the soul.
We are strong yet soft.
We know ourselves.
Acknowledge our weaknesses,
seeking for truth.
Bow in humility when we make a mistake.
Easily say the words –
forgive me
and
I forgive you
Light glows within us.
We are the children.
We are the beloved.
We are the followers,
of this man Christ,
who comes to us right where we are,
but never leaves us there.
From glory to glory
we are learning to be holy.
As we walk the mountains
and valleys
listening for the call,
thirsty for grace,
abandoned to love,
eyes to the sky.
Lifting up the man
who gives us all good things –
peace unshakable,
Joy unending,
Patience to wait for a drop more of this un-understandable mystery,
Love unconditional and unlimited.
We become free to be who we were created to be.
We do nothing from guilt or manipulation.
Our love songs come from gratitude,
expressions of love pour out unfettered,
joy-full.
We speak with authority,
not to judge,
but from experience.
nothing can rip our faith from our hearts
we Know that we Know
because of the practical living of our faith,
because we wear trust like a garment,
because we have seen with our eyes,
heard with our ears,
touched with our own hands,
been moved,
sometimes in spite of ourselves,
in direct opposition to our own selfishness.
And so we climb,
ever upward and outward,
towards the stars
toward the heavens.
They say God saves his best work
for the inside of things.
May it be so, Lord.
May it be so.

I postponed death by living, by suffering, by error, by risking, by giving, by losing. – Anais Nin

Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves

There is no coming to consciousness without pain. People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own Soul. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.

– C.G. Jung

alive

6b6c64971df97085a48206944b9714ceLife is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult-once we truly understand and accept it-then life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters.

So what if the motion has to be forced? The important thing is to do it. Do it now, and the feeling will come. There is a great deal of psychological evidence showing that attitude change often follows behavior change. Good intentions are often crushed by old habits. If we stand around waiting for a feeling to move us, we may never get going. Get a person to perform a behavior, and, with some exceptions, their feelings will fall in line.

Staying Grounded in a Big City or Busy World

by Madisyn Taylor

For a more grounded life, choose not to get caught up in the fast-paced world around you.
a11c5a309704acd54c30f54747d1949c
1. Live simply and live deliberately. By choosing not to get caught up in the details of this fast-paced world, you are doing your part to slow down the . You will also discover that you have more time to enjoy being alive.

2. Stay in touch with yourself. Soul searching, meditation, and journaling are just a few of the many activities you can take part in to stay aware and learn as much as you can about your emotions, reactions, likes, dislikes, dreams, and fears. Having a solid sense of self gives you a firm foundation for living in this world.

3. Support or teach others as often as you can. This can help you form connections with people while also giving you an opportunity to make the world a better place.

4. Consciously choose what you will allow into your being. The media bombards us with visions of hate, war, and pain. Be judicious about what you read, watch, and listen to.

5. Acknowledge the beauty that resides around you. Whether you live in a sprawling metropolis or a stereotypical suburb, there are natural and man-made wonders just waiting to be discovered by you.

6. Nurture your ties to your tribe. If you don’t have one, create a community that you can belong to. Modern life can be isolating. When you have a tribe, you have a circle that you are a part of. Its members – loved ones, friends, or neighbors – can be a source of support, caring, guidance, and companionship.

7. See the larger picture. Remember that the way that you choose to live is not the only way to live. Widen your perspective by exploring other modes of being through research, travel, and discussion.

8. Embrace the challenges that life presents to you, and challenge yourself often. After a time, even the most exciting jobs or lifestyles can seem routine. Never stop assimilating new knowledge about whatever you are doing, and your life will never seem dull.

9. Move your body. In this busy world, it can be easy to live a sedentary life. Movement reacquaints us with our bodies and connects us to the earth in a visceral way. It also restores our vitality.

10. Make time for stillness, silence, and solitude. The world can be noisy, and we are subject to all kinds of noises nearly every waking hour. We are also often “on the go” and unable to relax. Being alone in a peaceful place and making time for quiet can help you stay in touch with yourself.

empty

Today I found myself empty10d841c56404f73147d2cde96dffe05e
Empty of words
Empty of color
Empty of strength
Empty of empathy
Empty of ability
Empty of defenses
Empty of thoughts even.
I’ve been here many times over the years,
I understand it better now.
I rested a lot.
Did minimal work,
other than cleaning up diarrhea
and fixing meals,
I mainly stayed in bed
stayed in open, wordless, prayer –
Allowing the emptiness to be.
For five months now,
I have been giving my life force
to others, to keep them alive.
I have earned this emptiness.
I must allow myself to recharge.
I have nothing more to give  at this moment.
The filling up of the emptiness
must be done carefully
and in prayer.
Tomorrow is another day.
Baby steps.

As we awake to a new day, most of us think of the same old things. It’s a new day, so think of new things. New things to do, new ways to do them, new ways to make things interesting, new things to make life better, new ways to help your dreams come true. If you wake up every new day thinking of the same old things, then you set yourself up for the same old fall. – unknown

The only way to life is to accept each minute as an unrepeatable miracle, which it is exactly what it is –
a miracle and unrepeatable.
~Margaret Storm Jameson

As for me, I would see God, and to God would I commit my cause,
who does great things
and unsearchable, marvelous things without number.
Job 5:8-10
